Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic minister of holy communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are parishioners commissioned to assist the Ordinary Ministers (priests and deacons) in the distribution of Communion during the Mass, or in bringing Communion to the sick and elderly.

When the size of the congregation warrants it or if there are not a sufficient number of ordinary ministers, extraordinary ministers (duly instituted acolytes, and commissioned laity) are requested to provide assistance.

Our parish is in need of additional Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, especially at the Saturday 5 p.m. and Sunday 7:30 a.m. masses. If you meet the following eligibility requirements, please consider volunteering to the EMHC ministry:

  • A registered parishioner of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church
  • At least 18 years old, or a senior in high school
  • Have received the sacraments of Baptism, Penance, Holy Communion, and Confirmation
  • If married, marriage was blessed by the Catholic Church
  • Completed Safe Environment Training in the last 5 years

Theoretical and procedural training for the ministry is required and will be provided soon after you sign up.
